Does the Doctor Get Adjusted?

As a doctor of chiropractic I can tell you that what I do is very physical work. Working hard is definitely not new to me after being in construction for many years prior to me becoming a chiropractor. If you have been a patient for any length of time you can see how I bend, lift, and move people around. Although I use proper body mechanics like, bending at the knees and not with my back, people still wonder, who adjusts my back?

Thankfully I have three chiropractors who adjust me on a regular basis. I have been getting adjusted once every other week to once a month for more than 16 years! Now you may be wondering, “Why would anyone need to be adjusted that often and for such a long time?” To be completely honest I do it by choice. I believe that I shouldn’t tell my patients to do anything unless I am also completely willing to do it myself. This is the reason I recommend that my patients be adjusted on such a regular basis. On top of that I see it as being of the utmost importance in living a healthy lifestyle and I would rather be proactive in my own healthcare, than to wait for a symptom or problem to develop in the future.

When I say “proactive in my healthcare” I mean that not only should I be maintaining my own spinal health on a regular basis but I also watch my diet and make sure I drink plenty of water throughout the day. The other key part of my lifestyle is exercising daily and stretching so as not to but any unwanted strain on my body and build the muscle I need to successfully adjust my patients in the best way possible. The main reason I love being adjusted is that I feel relieved of any stress and more relaxed and focused.   I have seen many chiropractors throughout my years and have never had a bad adjustment.

I am 45 years old now and I believe the adjustments that I have had have allowed me to be able to live pain free and keep my immune system strong and free from any illness. Because I get adjusted on a consistent basis I am able to work out three to four days a week at a high intensity, snowboard with my son, hike with my family, go river rafting, and target shooting. I would not be able to do any of these activities without consistent chiropractic care.
