Sore Muscles – IT Bands
When we have sore muscles, we need them rubbed out. Well over the summer I experienced a sore muscle in my leg like nothing I’ve ever felt before! Too much sitting and the muscles get weak and then of course they get sore. I went to the sports doctor and she diagnosed me with IT Band Syndrome.
The Iliotibial bands run down the outside of the leg, from the top of the hip (at the waist) and the down to the knee. My bands were tight, tight, tight! There were different things I was told to do, like go to bi weekly physical therapy sessions to strengthen my IT bands as well as the inside of the legs. And stretches, there’s always those! But then, they recommended a Tiger Tail to treat my sore muscles. Basically it’s like a foam covered rolling pin that I can operate myself, any time my bands or muscles get sore. Just roll up and down over the IT bands, to get them to loosen up.
I have to tell you that my roller is a great little addition to our family. My husband works out every day (he’s lost 8 pounds in a week, jeez!), and is sore, much of the time. And seeings how he’s a chiropractor and all, he’s going to be recommending this for people with shoulder pain and back pain as well as sore muscles. As a matter of fact he’s sitting in the living room right now watching football and he announces that one of the players just broke out his Tiger Tail and started working out his muscles with it.
So that’s it. That is my new thing for these sore muscles, and I have to say, it’s quite empowering!
